DKNY Men’s Presentation: FW2010

02/22/2010

Like most labels, it seems that Donna Karen is putting more efforts behind DKNY’s menswear collection, more than doubling the amount of looks to 36, up from 16 last spring. But it seems that rumors of LVMH unloading the brand has not fazed the designer.

This presentation was the perfect balance between the fine tailoring of sharkskin suits and the rugged, industrial look of nylon ski jackets and cotton jersey zip-up hoodies. The garment to merge these two worlds: the cotton jersey blazer. It provides the flattering structure a guy needs for his shoulders while looking fresh and comfortable. But with a piece like this, fit is key. (I tried a similar blazer at Club Monaco, and it made me look frumpy rather than hip). The styling was on point too, and I love how the boots totally anchor the ensemble.

My favorite look includes a silver anorak trench, and the whole look makes me feel like I can take on the icy urban landscape in style.
